Avondale Forest Parkrun

Post marathon recovery is still high on the agenda so the miles have dropped back and this weekend was all about Parkrun.

First up on Saturday in Avondale Forest Parkrun we had a good show of the green vests out in force on a lovely autumnal morning.

John McCann finished 4th overall in a great time for the hilly Avondale course in 21.08, Slawek was next up in 22:30, Aoife was the first lady across the line in 26:18, Carmel completed in 29:18, Justyna in 29:22 and Geraldine in 31:04. Well done everyone, conditions were tough yesterday with a lot of rainfall during the week.

That brings the St.Benedict Inbhear Mór AC tally to over 100 Parkruns so far in 2019 showing that we certainly #loveparkrun.

Higher up in the hills, Michael and Justin went on trek with some of the gang from Kilcoole AC and IMRA in preparation for next week’s Run the Line. It’s great to see such camaraderie among the Wicklow clubs.

On Sunday our crew were out in force again supporting the 2nd Arklow Duck Pond Junior Parkrun with a strong show of green on the volunteer roster again. Well done to Alison, Carmel, Denny, Donna, Gillian, Jackie, Justin, Justyna, Michael, Sam and Susan. Our green also played a strong role supporting the kids with many members bringing the younger family members along to participate. Well done to all the kids and adults.

As we get ready for our next club event, the Waterford AC Half marathon in December, our Tuesday evening sessions have returned on the track. We’re still taking it gentle enough with post marathon recovery still in progress. All welcome to come along 9.30am and 7pm. Thursdays we meet at 9.30am and 7pm and Saturday 9am.
