It has been a very busy few weeks for the SBIM AC crews!
We were delighted to welcome back our juvenile athletes in mid August. We haven’t seen them since the start of March and they were ready to run again, with gusto. Only a week back into training and the government guidelines changed but our Coaching team and parents have found a way to keep training going whilst complying with all regulations. A huge thank you to the Coaches and the parents for their continued support. A super well done to all the kids, they have slotted right back in and are keep the Coaches on their toes keeping up with them.
This week saw a return to racing with the Athletics Wicklow County 5k championship taking place on Thursday at Jack Whites. The event was ran in accordance with all Athletics Ireland and government guidelines followed. Well done to the organisers and all the participants in making in a success and proving that competition can continue, albeit with alterations from before.
We had a smashing night with everyone putting in strong performances, some nervous
members at the start but smiling faces all round after the finish –
Our ladies team of Aoife, Geraldine and Jacqueline took home Bronze medals in the Women’s Masters team event. Denny and Geraldine took home Silver medals in their age categories.
Well done to all members who took part. Thanks to Coach Michael for our track sessions which helped get us get ready for the event. Special thanks to Gareth and Teresa for volunteering on the night, events cannot take place without the support volunteers.
Best of luck to all those completing the 100 miles a month in August for the Mater Foundation tomorrow, we look forward to seeing all your photos next week.
We continue to work towards our club virtual half marathon on 19th September, we have the ladies taking on the virtual mini marathon 10k in October and our club virtual marathon end of October.
