A super July was had by the St Benedict Inbhear Mór seniors and August started with a bang with our team relay event. August can only go from strength to strength as we get ready to welcome back our Juveniles.

Over the past three months we’ve had a number of our crew take on 5k, 10k or Half Marathon distance in support of Chris Proby Never Give Up event in aid of Arklow Cancer Support and the Irish Cancer Society. We were gutted that we couldn’t take part in an actual event but we weren’t deterred and completed the distances virtually. Well done to all our members who took part, we hope to get back to Inch next year to support this great charity event together.

The Athletics Ireland National 10k went virtual also earning a nice T-shirt for their troubles.
Well done to all those who took part.

Saturday saw 25 of us hit the road for our Team Relay event, 10 miles with each person completing 2 miles. It was to be fun…or so we said but everyone brought their “A” game and strong performances were put in all round.

Of course, the chats, coffee and biscuits was as important as the running on the day. It was great to get the group together and we look forward to our next event.

Well done to Aoife, Adam, Amanda, Beth, Conor, Cormac, Denny, Donna, Ethan, Gareth, Geraldine, Gillian, Jacqueline, Justin,Kate, Kevin, Marc, Michael, Rose, Slawek, Stan, Teresa, Tiernan and Tina. Thanks to Justyna and Madison for super photos and special mention to Marc and Michael who ran twice to make the teams even.

Today Kevin completed the IMRA Forth Mountain race in Wexford in 35m58s on a tough course with mixed technical terrain over 4 miles win lots of mud and puddles. Well done Kevin.

Susan completed not one but two marathons this weekend to take her across to Tennessee, virtually of course!. Well done Susan, you’ve kept the miles going week in week out to complete your 1,022kms.

Great efforts are being put into training sessions with our Tuesday Track sessions getting us ready for the County Championship 5k event and a focus on the trails for our Ecotrail training group. New members always welcome, message us for more details.

We are super excited to welcome back our Juveniles on 10th August as we haven’t seen them since March. Please keep an eye on the emails this week as we contact parents with more information on their return.
