Saturday morning was our Club Timed Mile event. Once again the weather conspired against us but 9 brave souls took on Storm Denis and showed him what they are made of.
Congratulations to Alan P, Carmel, Geraldine, John, Marc, Kevin, Peter, Tommy and Wioletta. Thanks also to Alan H, Donna, Gillian, Jacqueline, Justin, Michael and Niamh who cheered the group on and supported the organisation of the event.
The Timed Mile was followed by our club awards for 2019. Firstly, we were delighted to present East Coast Samaritans with a cheque for €1,004 which represented donations collected in our January 2020 challenge. Once again, well done and thank you to our members and club friends who took part in this challenge. We look forward to seeing you all again in January 2021.
We are very proud of every St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC member and what they achieved in 2019 so our committee had a lot of consideration. Warmest congratulations to our award winners who were as follows :
Club Person of the Year
Most Club Runs
Most Improved Runner
Our Couch to 5k group started on Tuesday. Great commitment was shown starting on the coldest night of the year so far but your enthusiasm was infectious and all put in great effort during your first week. The group gelled together nicely and we think will be a great support for each other across the next 10 weeks. We are delighted to welcome you all to the St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC group and wish you all the best on your journey to 5k.
On Sunday Peter and Rose headed to the Enniscorthy 10k with Storm Denis still looking to play havoc with our running plans. Both battled the winds and won achieving PB’s. Peter completed in 45:10 and Rose in 51:28. Well done to you both!
Finally volunteering continues to play a strong part of who St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC are. On Saturday Gareth was Run Director at Gorey Parkrun while on Sunday we had Alison, Susan, Tommy, Wioletta, Jacqueline, Donna, Justin, Aoife and Geraldine supporting Arklow Duck Pond junior Parkrun.
